You are a miracle! You have new life! 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.”
You have been spiritually reborn! John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
You have been adopted into God’s family, an heir to His kingdom! Romans 8:16,17 “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 17 and if children , then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
There is an entirely new path ahead of you! Isaiah 43:18, 19 “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Fresh, faith-filled & victorious in your new life as a Christian. Romans 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loves us.”
So how about some “spring cleaning”, and get your spiritual self all spruced up?
But life happens and you are still human, with feelings that crowd and get in the way at times. One day you feel saved, the next not so much. Remember that feelings are fickle, it’s time to learn to depend upon one thing: NOTHING changes the Word of God, the Bible. One thing that is truly dependable is: God and His holy Word. Get a Bible, begin reading right away, enjoy your love letter from God! Pray for His Holy Spirit to help you understand what you are reading, He is faithful and delighted to respond. Did you know that He delights in you? Absolute truth there!
It is important to get established in a church that adheres to and believes that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God. A fellowship that believes in the Triune Godhead; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is uncreated and self-existent, living, always was, always will be (eternal). They believe Gods only begotten Son was born from a virgin birth through the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit and in His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death, in His Bodily resurrection, and in His Personal future return to earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years. We believe the Judeo-Christian faith that embraces the above is set apart from all other religions, is under the leadership of the one and only true, uncreated, living God, never to be joined with another belief system. (eg: Mormon, Muslim, Jehovah Witness, New Age, Seeker Friendly, Christian Science, Scientology, Buddism and more.) You can ask for a statement of faith when you visit the different churches before you make your decision on where to attend. You can always change your mind if after attending a few services that you feel the Lord leading you to keep looking. Ask for His guidance, because He has fashioned a fellowship specifically customized for you, to fit all of your needs and talents that you can contribute with! Ask the Lord to direct you, He will respond to your spirit. The more you get to know Him, the quicker and easier it will be to “hear” Him. **There are different denominations of Christian faiths, as long as they are Christian and believe the foundations addressed in this paragraph, (also in our Statement of Faith under the About tab), they are “o.k.”
Next, usually after a short class from your church about water baptism, you need to get baptized. Mark 16:15-17 The added benefit is, the infilling of His Holy Spirit enables you, gives you the extra push so to speak, that we often need to overcome temptations, to battle spiritual warfare from the enemy of your soul, (no one said the Christian life was problem-free, life is what it is) and the ability to stick-to-your-guns when faith wants to vaporize. He also inspires fantastic worship as you get to know your Lord and Savior more intimately and help us to pray when we don’t know what words to apply to a given situation.
Get involved in your church’s small home group or weekly bible studies. These small groups really are wonderful for getting to know other Christians, for developing a wonderful bond with your church group, and for getting one-on-one help in understanding the Christian life, or portions of scripture (the Bible) and how to apply the truths to our daily living. I have always found the home groups and Adult Sunday School studies extremely helpful!
Since Christ can control only that portion of your life that you yield or surrender to Him, learning to turn everything over to Him will come as you mature in your Christian walk. But you need to make a conscious effort, because life habits have most likely been established and they can take time to change. Ask for His help in transforming old thoughts and thinking patterns to be more pleasing to Him. Read the Bible daily. Schedule time to talk to your Savior and to pray every morning. Ask for forgiveness, take time to worship Him, include your loved ones, neighbors and community in your prayers as well. Christ gave us an example on how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 I pray for forgiveness every single day, I usually mess up somewhere; impatience, thinking something unkind about the person who cut me off on the freeway, you know that sort of thing that all flesh (humans) deal with. His forgiveness is an ongoing blessing! His grace and mercy know no limits. Play Christian music in the car or at home, the words will bless you and further your understanding of what Christianity is all about. There are many Christian radio stations available online these days. And free at that, sweet!
While God permits testing for the purpose of strengthening faith and character, satan entices to evil for the purpose of destruction. I have always leaned upon 1 Corinthians 10:13 when I have felt that I was being tempted beyond my ability to resist. Check it out! God not only limits trials, He provides the way of escape. If you do mess up, ask for His forgiveness and the strength to avoid that situation in the future. When you repent (ask forgiveness) it means turning away from that offense/sin. Flee from it, He will enable you!
You are a witness! Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your words and to whom you talk to, share what He has done in your life. There are too many people in a beeline to hell out there and no one is guaranteed a tomorrow, stuff happens. You witness in your demeanor, your words, how you dress, what you speak, who you remain friends with (He may direct you from a crowd that could draw you away from your new life), what entertainment you watch and with your faithfulness and commitment, utter grateful devotion to your Lord. People around you will notice the change and will also get saved. When we see a really good movie, don’t we tell others about it so that they can enjoy the experience as well? Witnessing is similar to that. You have really good news; the GOSPEL of CHRIST, share it!
Visit a used book store, they are far more budget-friendly. I’m always looking for a Concordance (helps you find scripture by looking up key words to the verse and is also found at the back of most bibles), inspirational stories, Faith-builders, Daily Verses (like Psalms) mini books, commentaries (a scholars opinion on the bible, somewhat like a sermon, usually in a narrative and verse by verse. Be careful of who the author is), specific Bible Study’s and I have even found some good condition Bibles for give-away while witnessing.
This may seem a bit overwhelming, but I’m just so excited to welcome you to the family of God Almighty! It is my wish to see you get your feet firmly planted on a firm foundation, Jesus. If I can be of ANY HELP, you can contact me through the comment section at the end of any of my posts. Be blessed, my new sister or brother in the Lord and keep looking up, for our redemption draws very near!
**A Word of Warning: A one-world religion is heresy and is to be avoided at all costs, you will not find salvation anywhere else other than through the sacrificial Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth! All religions absolutely do NOT worship the same god(s)!
