Bible Study, Forgiveness Our Essential Directive Week Four of Four

road to forgiveness

FORGIVENESS OUR ESSENTIAL DIRECTIVE

Week Four of Four

RECAP

We need to picture sin as a demon crouching like a crazed animal at our doorstep, ready to dump that 7-day old barrel of waste right into our clean, pretty living room.  Unforgiveness is sin and should not be tolerated. Forgiveness is dying to self.  Christ was broken, dead to Self and His wants, preferences, His RIGHTs, as He meekly went to Calvary.

WEEK FOUR:

The Character of the New Man: (Reconciliation)

Colossians 3:13-17 From the core of your being, be tender, merciful, humble, patient and forgiving in all relationships. Let the peace of Christ control your thoughts and emotions. Be thankful.  Bring the life and character of Christ into the way we relate to others.

It’s hard to discard the old ways, impossible in fact. Yes, impossible. WITHOUT THE POWER OF THE ENABLER; the Holy Spirit of God, we would not be able to attain and maintain a Christ-like character.  God has made us new creations in Christ, let us be continually renewed to live and love in a manner worthy of the Lord.

Still can’t forgive? What gets in the way? _____________

That’s right, pride. We’ve acknowledged that it’s there, but like an elephant in the living room, we can’t seem to get rid of it. Just can’t squeeze it out the front door once it’s in. Remedy?

“JUST AS WATER EVER SEEKS AND FILLS THE LOWEST PLACE, SO THE MOMENT GOD FINDS YOU ABASED AND EMPTY, HIS GLORY AND POWER FLOW IN.”      ANDREW MURRAY

Overcome evil with good. Revenge should not be in our vocabulary. Romans 12:19-21 read it aloud to yourself.

Let’s bow our hearts & examine ourselves.

Holy Spirit shine Your Light upon each of our hearts, reveal areas where we need to forgive and not just so that we will be forgiven, but because of the blatant offense that this is to You. We desperately need Your forgiveness, we are equally desperate to forgive, while we recognize the vile stench of our sin. Come & cleanse us now, give us the release, strength and love that is required to forgive, Lord. The truth requires us to repent. Some hurts run deep, some have existed far too long. Cleansing stream flow, Your children come to Calvary, let Your cleansing Blood flow.  Jehovah tsidkenu, The Lord my Righteousness, Jehovah m’kaddesh, the Lord my Sanctifier…. we call upon these aspects of Your Person, for forgiveness of sin and deliverance from sin’s dominion! Continue Your work throughout this day, this week if need-be, Lord. Continue to reveal, renew our minds so we can renew our actions and we will continue to release, to forgive. We trust you to complete this work, and we declare Philippians 1:6 for You that began a good work in us will perfect it. Thank You that we can look into our Judge’s Face and see a Savior there!

SUMMARY:    Repent.      Die.      Repent some more.      Die deeper.

Unforgiveness is still there? Perhaps deliverance should be considered.
